Application form GEDmatch ancestor project
FamGEN administers 95 regional projects in Germany in GEDmatch. End users thus have the option of indicating their origin in the adjacent application form by simply stating the place name(s) and surname(s). FamGEN checks the place and surname details and assigns the individual places of origin to the corresponding federal states, administrative districts and - where available - counties. This ensures that their DNA test results are entered in all qualified project groups that match their location information, without the need to repeatedly enter the same information in GEDmatch for each project group.
FamGEN ensures that the project inclusion takes place at least in the qualified federal states and - depending on availability - also in the qualified administrative districts and counties. The following applies in detail:
Ø The end user identifies himself with full first and last name and email according to GEDmatch registration.
Ø Up to 3 matches (GEDmatch IDs and aliases) with the same ancestors or places of origin can be specified per application for admission.
Ø At least 2 places of origin and surnames of ancestors must be specified per membership application.
Ø A maximum of 10 places of origin and surnames can be specified per application for admission. If the number of proofs is higher than 10 places of origin, the end user can use the application form several times in multiple times in succession.
Ø Once the verification has been completed, the end user receives an email with an overview of all project groups in which FamGEN has included the test person(s).
Ø All GEDmatch evaluation functions are immediately available to the end user after project inclusion.
Note:
FamGEN does not accept project inclusion applications that are submitted without proof of origin. Each project entry requires proof of origin by stating the place name and surname in order to ensure quality in the individual project groups as a reference for the respective region. In addition, FamGEN uses the reference data already available for the respective project group to check whether the DNA comparison also speaks in favor of inclusion in a project group (e.g. several DNA matches above 7 cM or 700 SNP).
(1) If the applicant is not resident in Germany and is a descendant of immigrants who emigrated from Germany to the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile or Argentina before 1950, please provide additional information on the form.
