FamGEN term

Objectives of FamGEN

FamGEN has set itself the goal of promoting the use of GEDmatch internationally and imparting knowledge about the functional scope of GEDmatch for the DNA analysis of DNA matches. The promotion of the use of the GEDmatch functions for regional project groups (Ancestor Projects) plays a special role here, allowing a targeted, regionally limited DNA analysis of DNA matches.

Regional project groups

FamGEN administers in GEDmatch 95 regional ancestor projects in Germany. In the course of time, a data pool is to be created based on the data from the project members, which DNA and which family surnames from which places are typical for individual regions.
